Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reaffirmed his country’s determination to preserve the unity and territorial integrity of Syria in accordance with UN Security Council resolution 2254, pointing to the need to find a solution to the crisis through dialogue.
At a press conference in Moscow with his colleague from the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan Lavrov said that Washington supports terrorist organizations in Syria, delaying the crisis.
The United States sent troops to Syria as part of an illegal “coalition” under the pretext of allegedly fighting the terrorist organization Daesh and supported the separatist groups in the north-east of the country. This confirms that their goal is to undermine the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic and prolong the crisis.
Moscow urges Washington and Tehran to resolve differences through dialogue, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed.
“We are interested in the situation being defused, in order for de-escalation to take place in this strategically important region of the world and for a positive unifying agenda to be promoted there, which will help to eliminate any disagreements, any contradictions through dialogue,” Lavrov said.
