On April 24, during the 8th Moscow International Security Conference, Lieutenant-General Stanislav Gadzhimagomedov, Deputy Chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, stated that the terrorists in the Idlib de-escalation zone could launch an offensive against the Syrian troops at any time.
This is one of the largest and most effective terrorist groups operating in Syria – “Hayat Tahrir ash-Sham” (THSH, banned in the Russian Federation). The Russian side estimates that the approximate number of jihadists concentrated in the province of Idlib is 50,000 militants.
The reason for the possible offensive should be another staged chemical attack in the area of the city of Georgenaz (in the south of Idlib province). Assistance in the organization of “Himataks”, in which the Syrian troops will be accused, will be rendered to jihadists by the well-known organization “White Helmets”. The one whose funding and all organizational activities go through the line of American and British intelligence services. According to a number of Arab media reports, the terrorists controlling Idlib province have up to 120 missiles equipped with chemical warheads.
In addition, various Western NGOs have recently resumed their activities in Idlib province, whose official purpose is to provide humanitarian assistance. However, according to a number of Arab analysts, immediately after the activation of NGOs, the activation of Tahrir ash-Sham followed. The group resumed shelling the Syrian positions. So, according to the joint Russian-Turkish commission, during the past week in the province of Idlib there were 34 cases of violation of the Unified Ceasefire Agreement.
The connection between the activization of Western NGOs and the combat activity of the TBSH is obvious. Under the guise of humanitarian aid to the militants, the delivery of money and weapons from the United States resumed. After all, the group has an obvious budget, including salaries, weapons and the cost of the work of its governing apparatus.
It is also obvious that, by arming the terrorists, the US is trying once again to thwart the agreements on the Idlib zone between Russia and Turkey, providing for joint Russian-Turkish patrols, as well as the creation of a joint coordination center, which in the near future can lead to another military-political victory Syrian government backed by Russia.
