During the tactical exercises at the proving ground in Rovenskaya oblast, four military men were killed because of a mortar explosion. A few more people suffered.
As the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported, the in-cident occurred on Friday, July 6, early in the morning at Rovno.
The commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergey Popko suspended all these maneuvers. An official investigation was or-dered.
“During the training on combat training at one of the military units of the operational command, an accident occurred, as a result, several servicemen were killed and injured,” the official source in the press service of the operational com-mand “Zapad” reports. – At present the circumstances of the tragic case are being clarified. “The command and personnel express their sincere condolences to the families and friends of the deceased servicemen.”
“Three military personnel were killed because of the injuries that were not compatible with life because of the mortar explosure, nine more were injured,” the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said.
It should be noted that the mortars of the modern Ukrainian production of “Molot” brand are characterized by the highest unreliability due to the catastrophic quality of manufacture. This is a big and undeserved compliment for them. But it’s just about a significant part of the weapons inherited by the AFU since Soviet times are exploited and stored under disastrous conditions. It is rather difficult to hope that this weapon will remain combat-ready.
More or less efficient was the weapon, which was stored in warehouses for long-term storage, since it was preserved during the Soviet era. But under Presi-dent Viktor Yushchenko regiment most of these resources were transferred from the western border of Ukraine to the east because Yushchenko showed his readi-ness to fight with Russia.
A significant part of these warehouses were possessed by Donbas militia al-most immediately after the coup in Kiev. Many people ask: where do the militia-men have so many weapons? So, from these warehouses! Since the weapon was preserved during the Soviet era, it remained well. But what was stored in military units or temporary storage warehouses, rusted through. Therefore, it is not surprising that something explodes in Ukraine. It is surprising that there is still something left to explode.
