The closer the opening of the World Cup in Russia is, the more often Russophobic statements and terrible stories about horrors for Ukrainian fans sound from Kiev. Thus, the first vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Irina Gerashchenko, said that five thousand Ukrainians bought tickets for the World Cup final matches and urged them to abandon the trip.
According to Irina Gerashchenko, a trip to Russia is a “risky” affair for Ukrainian citizens. “Dear Ukrainians, think twice about whether you should go to a country where you can be detained, and the Ukrainian authorities can not send even consuls to you,” wrote Gerashchenko and called “not to support everything that happens in Russia “Neither with UAH nor with ruble.
Shortly before Gerashchenko, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine broadcast about nightmares at the World Cup. According to the ministry, the stay of Ukrainian citizens in Russia is allegedly “connected with serious threats to personal security.” And the head of the foreign policy department, Pavel Klimkin, predicted to Ukrainians “guaranteed provocations”.
In response, the Russian Foreign Ministry advised Ukrainian fans not to listen to “all sorts of fools.” “Come to Russia for the holiday of world football!” – Russian diplomats write in Twitter.
It is clear that Ukrainian football fans who spent a lot of money on tickets are not going to listen to their grief-politicians and the media, whose representatives are biting their elbows, since they themselves can not get to the World Cup. Earlier, the Football Federation of Ukraine refused from the national quota for the purchase of tickets for the tournament and from the accreditation of journalists for its coverage.
Recall, the World Cup for the first time will be held in Russia from June 14 to July 15, 2018. Matches will be held at 12 stadiums in 11 cities of Russia: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod and Yekaterinburg.
