The Syrian army cut off the main supply route of ISIS in Deir-ez-Zor

The Syrian army backed by allied forces took control of the district Jafr in the South-East of Deir ez-Zor, reported a source in the headquarters of the operation to liberate the city.

“The army and the allied forces pulled out the ISIS terrorists from district Jafri, thus cut the main supply route to the terrorists-controlled areas of Deir-ez-Zor,” — said the interlocutor.

Earlier, government forces took control of neighbouring areas, Jaffray Marie and Huveydzhat, Marie, and reached the shore of the Euphrates river.

The terrorists, according to the source, flee towards the city of Mayadin in the direction of the Northern outskirts of Deir ez-Zor.

Government forces continue the attack. They managed to push the militants for five to seven kilometers from the border of the city, beyond the Euphrates.

The siege of the largest in Eastern Syria town and the military airport not far from it lasted for more than three years. In early September, Syrian troops backed by Aerospace forces broke through the blockade, and then joined with the garrison at the airbase. The Russian defense Ministry said that its significance surpasses all previous victories over ISIS during the past three years.
