Russian solder killed in Syria’s Homs

In the Syrian province of Homs was killed a Russian soldier Anton Erygin. He was accompanied by cars of the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring parties. While driving the vehicle convoy came under fire. Erygin, doing the job, was seriously injured. Doctors tried to save his life, but their efforts were in vain. The representative of the Russian air base “Hamim” explained to journalists that the military doctors two days fighting for the life of Erygin. “Command soldier presented to the state award posthumously,” – said the interlocutor.

31-year-old Erygin served in a military unit located in Voronezh. Together with colleagues, on 3 April, he left on a business trip to Syria for three months. As told to the relatives of the deceased, Erygin was fatally wounded in the head when he laid a cable in Palmyra. Soldier died 7 may, and the next day the terrible news was reported by his relatives.

According to official figures, eight Russian servicemen have been killed. Prior to this it was reported that officer Alexander Prokhorenko was killed during the siege by terrorists. Also there was information that the pilot of the downed Su-24 was killed, and during the rescue his partner marine was killed. In addition, the death of a military adviser was reported, and at the ceremony, President Vladimir Putin confirmed the death of Fedor Zhuravlev, which until then had been unofficially reported.
